DINAS POWYS GOLF CLUB

JACKDAWS SECTION

Welcome to Dinas Powys Golf Club - in the club there are several sections, the Jackdaws being one of them. This section caters for the mid to high handicappers, i.e. 14 – 28 being typical. To belong to the Jackdaws there is an annual fee currently at £10.00.

During the spring/summer months we meet on a Thursday evening where the tee is booked from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. This is a Stapleford competition where 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd prizes are awarded. The entrance fee is £3.00.The Jackdaws run various competitions, during the year and organise away days.

We also run the Hallets section in the club where we play in a competition against other golf clubs in the area on a home or away basis. This section is noted for it friendliness and is an ideal format for you to meet other members of the club playing at your level.

A bit of history for the new members of Dinas Powys Golf Club

The One o’clock Gate 1951

The erection of this gate was typical of the Spirit amongst the members of the club. The reigning Captain was seeking ways and means to replace a very broken down gate, and at a social function accompanied by other members of Dinas Powys he persuaded his friends to provide a new gate! As the bargain was sealed over a drink the clock struck one whereupon one of the ladies in the party suggested the obvious, hence the name The One O’clock Gate
